Spring at Lula Cellars: A Season in Motion

Spring at Lula Cellars: A Season in Motion

Spring has officially arrived in Anderson Valley, and the vineyard is waking up in all the ways we wait for each year.

The vines are no longer dormant, tiny shoots are pushing their way into the sunlight, the first signs of flowering are beginning to appear, and the entire property feels like it’s stretching back to life. It’s that fleeting, electric moment when everything is full of possibility, and the vintage ahead starts to take shape.

By May and into June, we’ll see the early development of grape clusters as the vines shift into full growth mode. It’s a beautiful time to witness the rhythm of the vineyard, quietly busy, constantly evolving, and never quite the same.

And just as the vines keep us on our toes, so does the cellar. This May, we’ll be diving into blending trials for our 2025 Pinot Noirs. It’s one of our favorite times of year, equal parts precision and surprise. There’s always something unexpected that emerges, and that’s part of what makes each vintage its own story.

What We’re Pouring This Spring

As the season changes, so does what we’re reaching for in the glass, fresh, vibrant, and perfectly suited for long afternoons and golden evenings.

Our 2023 Rosé of Pinot Noir is a natural starting point, crisp, bright, and endlessly drinkable. It’s the kind of wine that belongs on a picnic table, paired with sunshine and good company.

For Chardonnay lovers, we’re pouring three distinct expressions of Anderson Valley:

Each vineyard tells its own story, and tasting them side by side is one of the best ways to experience just how dynamic this region can be.

If you’re in the mood for something aromatic and a little unexpected, the 2023 Gewürztraminer delivers, floral, expressive, and vibrant in all the right ways. And for those craving something crisp and refreshing, our 2024 Sauvignon Blanc is exactly that, bright, lively, and made for warm spring days.

A Rosé Worth Waiting For

We’re especially excited about what’s coming next.

This June, in celebration of International Rosé Day, we’ll be releasing our 2025 Rosé of Pinot Noir, and it’s a milestone wine for us. This is the first vintage made entirely from estate-grown fruit here on the Lula property, crafted from the same two clones that make our CVR Pinot Noir so beloved.

If you know our CVR Pinot Noir, you know it stands out, fruit-forward, distinctly Anderson Valley, and quietly one of our most popular wines. This rosé carries that same DNA, with a beautifully expressive nose and a profile that feels both fresh and familiar.

We produced just 225 cases, making it a small but incredibly special release. It’s one to keep an eye out for, and yes, one to plan ahead for.

Come Experience Spring at Lula

There’s no better time to visit.

We’re open seven days a week, and the property is in that perfect spring window—green hills, fresh growth in the vineyard, and just enough warmth to settle in for the afternoon. Pack a picnic, bring your four-legged friends, and stay awhile.

And if you’re looking for a reason to mark your calendar, Anderson Valley Pinot Noir Festival returns June 14–16, a weekend dedicated to everything we love about this region and the wines it produces.

Spring doesn’t last forever, but while it’s here, it’s pretty hard to beat. We look forward to hosting you soon!
