Lula Wine and Recipes We’re Falling For…

The fall season has officially kicked off, and early into it, we find ourselves heading out to the garden, spending an obscene amount of time at the grocery store, and of course, reaching into our cellar to enjoy some Lula fall favorites! Autumn is a time to experiment in the kitchen by whipping up new and exciting recipes. Yes, pumpkin recipes can be tasty but seriously, how many versions of pumpkin pie can you create? We challenge you to think outside of the box and find a new go-to recipe. Our team has put together some savory pairings to go with Lula Pinot Noir, and don’t worry—we didn’t completely forget the pumpkin!

2018 Anderson Valley Pinot Noir + Chicken with a Mushroom Cream Sauce

We naturally love to pair any bottle of Lula Pinot Noir with a roast turkey during the holidays, but that’s what makes this versatile and food-friendly varietal so great. One of our favorite fall dishes is a braised chicken with garlic mushroom cream sauce over wild rice. The 93-Point 2018 Anderson Valley Pinot Noir is the perfect match for this comforting dish with earthy, delicate flavors that accentuate the chicken without being overpowering. This meal is wonderful for Saturday tailgates or Monday night football watch parties.

2018 Peterson Pinot Noir + Roasted Butternut Squash Soup

Cooler weather and soup go hand in hand. As soon as the temperature drops, we crave a bowl of our favorite fall go-to’s— roasted butternut squash! This simple soup is a harvest of flavors that will immerse your palate in a rich, warm, somewhat spicy autumn journey. A bottle of the 94-Point 2018 Peterson Pinot Noir is the ideal accompaniment because of the vibrant aromas and flavors of violet, cherry, and wild berry. The palate of the wine is focused with lovely intensity and persistence from start to finish. We recommend sprinkling a couple of roasted pumpkin seeds on top, Badda-bing, Badda-bang you have yourself a tasty seasonal soup!

2019 Lula Vineyard Pinot Noir + Sausage Stuffed Acorn Squash

Bring on an all-star match—enter the 96-Point, Cellar Selection 2019 Lula Vineyard Pinot Noir and the hearty sausage stuffed acorn squash. Mound the filling inside the halved squash with Italian chicken, turkey, or pork sausage (you really can’t go wrong with whatever meat you choose) and sprinkle the top with Parmesan for an instant fall classic. Pair this beauty with our powerhouse 2019 Lula Vineyard Pinot Noir, a rich and complex blend of Pinot clones Pommard, 777, 667, and 115 meticulously grown and crafted to show off why we can’t get enough of our stunning Estate vineyard.

2018 Costa Vineyard Pinot Noir + Autumn Fruit Salad

Salads can often be perceived as a summer dish, but we’ve added some fall flair to a fruit salad to create a must-try autumn fare! Slice up some pears and apples, throw in halved red grapes over a bed of spring mix, and drizzle a citrus yogurt dressing to complete—of course, don’t forget the toasted pecans. This orchard fruit-infused dish is an excellent choice to throw on the menu while the weather is transitioning from the summer heat to chilly fall days. Uncork a bottle of the 93-Point Costa Vineyard Pinot Noir, which showcases aromas and flavors of red currant and cherry mixed with oak spice, giving way to a palate that is soft, vibrant, and delicate.

NV Guntly Red + Pumpkin Crumb Cake Muffins

We promised you pumpkin, and here it is! We like to indulge in pumpkin crumb cake muffins for a Lula nightcap featuring our Pinot Noir-driven blend, NV Guntly Red. Don’t let the muffin in the title fool you—these perfectly proportioned spiced goodies taste even better at night, warmed up with a dollop of butter or cream cheese. And our uniquely medium-bodied and Pinot Noir-driven red blend is all about tasty pleasure.

No matter what dishes and desserts you choose to whip up in the kitchen this fall, we’d love to see how you’re pairing your Lula selections along with it! Be sure to share your autumn food and Lula wine pairings with us on Facebook and Instagram. We hope you have a flavorful fall filled with Pinot, spice, and everything nice!
